Chicken Whisperer

We call Princess Pea Pod the chicken whisperer.

This is why.

"So... I hear you're hunting eggs for Easter..."

The Party

You missed quite a party at our house last night!
Of course, you probably also slept last night!

Princess Pea Pod wanted a slumber party for her 5th birthday. It all started when we saw the cutest invitations with three adorable little girls in sleeping bags. I figured that since a couple of her best friends have stayed over before, we could probably power through her first official slumber party.

Since some of her friends are younger, we ended up with a house full of mostly 4 year olds.
They did not all stay.

It got late and we tucked the slumber-ers in on the sleeping bags.
They were all settled in to watch Snow White and peacefully drift off to sleep.

Aren't they adorable? Don't the look SO innocent?
Don't be fooled! Roughly 30 seconds later, they had me pinned on the floor and were tickling me.
I got a few tickles in myself.

Then Hot Daddy put a pillow in play and we managed to turn them on each other. Whew!

We had a break until then they turned on Hot Daddy!

These girls can pillow fight like nobody's business!
If I ever need someone with a pillow to back me up, I am definitely calling these kids!

Then & Now

On April 21, 2006 I gave birth to this little angel.

This morning she wanted to get ready for school all by herself.
I did not choose her clothes.
I did not choose her shoes.
I did not brush or style her hair.

I did get to fix her lunch. I got to it before she did!
I got to make a find-the-bunny peanut butter sandwich.
With M&M eyes on the bunny.
They were blue, like hers.
Don't judge me. It's my kid's birthday.

Five Years Ago

I'm getting a little reminiscent these days.
It tends to happen in April; at least, it has for the past 5 years. Here's a hint:

That was Easter 2006 and I was 38 weeks pregnant.
Princess Pea Pod will turn 5 on Thursday.
I will probably mention it again between now and then.
At least now I get to sleep through the night, which is exactly what I am about to do!

Ambushed

Princess Pea Pod is at school today. Hot Daddy is at work, Granna has already come for lunch and gone back to the office. I am working on an issue for which I have little information and am losing patience. Then my little fuzzy friend came to curl up with me. Now, there's plenty of room in this recliner for both of us, but he chose to curl up with me like this:

My arm is UNDER the cat. This makes is quite difficult to type. Its great for cuddling, fantastic for soothing the soul, terrible for productivity! The other day I had some success relocating him so that he could lay next to me in the chair, so I tried again today. It didn't work so well. He freaked out. He pawed at the keyboard. He ran off to sleep in Princess Pea Pod's bed, or the doll cradle, or the Build-A-Bear puppy bed. These are some of his other favorite places.

Alright, crazy lady. Step away from the camera.

As you can see, its just terrible to be our cat. So I wasn't to worried when he went to find peace elsewhere. What did worry me was that my network connection tanked as soon as he left. I know he rules the roost, but talk about revenge! No joke, the fuzzy little bugger turned off my wireless! Maybe he knows I need a break.

Stab, then Twist

Daddy: Do you want Mommy to play Candy Land with us?
Audrey: No, she's annoying.

Well thanks, principessa! For the record, she was annoyed that I was still eating after they had cleared the table and pulled Candy Land out of the game closet. That happens when Mommy is the last one to sit down to eat. And on top of that, she came to me and asked "What is annoying?" So I illustrated by (gently but persistently) poking her arm until she backed away, then just 3 or 4 more pokes. "NOW I'm annoying." I guess she spoke that into existence!

I spent about 5 seconds being bummed that she didn't want to play with me, then moved right past that and into relief. Maybe they'll play till bedtime and I can enjoy the view from the outside.

My Baby Bro

I love this guy.
He's my baby bro.
He's our little principessa's Uncle Squirrel Bait.
He's too far away.
I can't wait to see him in 3 months!
Is it July yet?!?
