Book Review - The Royal Artisan

Tessa Afshar delivers an achingly beautiful installment to her Queen Esther’s Court series in her latest release, The Royal Artisan. A story set to run parallel to The Queen’s Cook, The Royal Artisan is that of a young Persian woman who holds her family close in her heart as she works at the pottery wheel, creating the finest wares in Susa and beyond. When destruction comes knocking, Sazana is surprised to find the man assigned to protect her is none other than the one who broke her heart when he broke their betrothal. Fighting the storm in her heart and the enemy without, Sazana and Jadon must reckon with the danger before them as well as the history between them. Afshar has a well honed talent for creating complex characters and intricate storylines that capture the reader and hold them enthralled without overcomplicating. The Royal Artisan is further proof of that talent, with a richly layered tale wrapped around characters we love to love.

Book Review - Bookmarked for Love

Bookmarked for Love is the third installment of the Checking Out Love series by Sarah Monzon. It is a sweet rom-com that will sweep you right in, even if you are reading it as a standalone. I enjoyed the audio version, which was delightfully narrated by the talented Allyson Morgan. Living in a world of books is a dream for readers and a story about book themed romance between a librarian and a publisher is simply the cinnamon sprinkle on my coffee. Monzon has readers delightfully following along as Martha finds herself in the unenviable position of working alongside her childhood crush, who now holds her future in his hands. Julian is elbow deep in his own unenviable situation and it seems only Martha can turn the page and bring on his next chapter. Working together is their path to meeting their goals, but it just might also be the pen that writes their happily ever after. Characters written with depth and reality, combined with a bit of complication and a satisfying storyline makes Bookmarked for Love a fun and easy read for the beach, the hammock, or wherever you take your delights!
